At both locations, the Cincinnati Ghostbusters were crowd favorites. Their movie-quality costumes and iconic Ecto-1 vehicle created an unforgettable photo opportunity. Guests of all ages loved their enthusiasm and attention to detail. The Ghostbusters have become well-known throughout the Cincinnati area for attending charitable events, and their participation at Trunk or Treat brought smiles to everyone they met. Charlie and his Haunted Trailer team delivered the perfect blend of spooky fun and family-friendly entertainment. Our corner of Ohio has witnessed many events, and we've founded museums to remember the past and pass on the legacy to future generations. These are some of the best museums in the area. more John P. Parker House Just over 21 miles south of us is a historic house museum dedicated to John J Parker, a former slave, inventor, and staunch abolitionist. Parker was born a slave, then purchased his freedom and escaped to Ohio. In Ohio, he became a member of the Underground Railroad and helped many slaves to escape to freedom before the Civil War. Parker's house was once part of a larger business complex he built that included a foundry, blacksmith, and machine shop. The house itself has been beautifully preserved and looks almost as if its remarkable original owner has stepped out and could return at any time. The docents are very knowledgeable and provide fascinating details about his life and former home. The museum is located at 300 N Front Street, Ripley. US Grant Boyhood Home Also south of us at 219 E Grant Avenue, Georgetown, is the boyhood home of President and Civil War general US Grant. This red brick house was his home for sixteen years before he left to attend the US Military Academy at Westpoint. The house stands 2 1/2 stories high and is noted for its placement of the front door underneath the leftmost of three bay windows. The house is decorated with furniture and artifacts from the era, many of which were used by his family. In this house, he learned characteristics that would carry him from a small town to become a General of the US Army and eventually President of the United States. You can take part in guided tours of the house or undertake a self-guided tour. Tri-State Warbird Museum Fourteen miles west of us is a fascinating museum dedicated to aircraft from WWII. The Warbird Museum was founded in 2003, to restore as many WWII planes to flight status as possible. Anyone interested in military history or the history of flight will gain some fascinating insights by visiting this museum. Some of the planes they have available are a P-40, P-51, B-25, TB-25-N, and an E3-Avenger. After touring the planes, you can also visit restored WWII barracks.
