Cincinnati to Red River Gorge Road Trip Guide: Exploring Kentucky in the 2026 Jeep Cherokee Turbo Hybrid

If you're looking for an easy weekend adventure from Cincinnati, few destinations are as appealing as Red River Gorge in Kentucky. Located roughly 125 miles southeast of Cincinnati, the Red River Gorge area offers dramatic sandstone cliffs, natural arches, hiking trails, scenic overlooks, and plenty of opportunities to get outside. The drive takes approximately two and a half hours, making it a great destination for a day trip or weekend getaway. And if you're making the trip in a vehicle designed for both everyday driving and weekend adventure, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee Turbo Hybrid makes an excellent companion. With its new 1.6-liter turbo hybrid powertrain, available 4x4 capability, spacious interior, and impressive fuel efficiency, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is built to take Cincinnati drivers beyond their daily commute and toward their next adventure. Starting Your Red River Gorge Road Trip From Cincinnati The journey from Cincinnati to Red River Gorge is a relatively straightforward drive into eastern Kentucky. At around 125 miles each way, it's long enough to feel like a road trip without requiring an entire week away. Before leaving Cincinnati, take a few minutes to prepare. Check your tire pressure, make sure your windshield washer fluid is topped off, and pack water, snacks, hiking shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing. If you're traveling with friends or family, the Cherokee's generous cargo space gives you room for the gear you need. The 2026 Jeep Cherokee offers up to 68.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the second-row seats folded, giving you plenty of flexibility for backpacks, outdoor equipment, coolers, and other road-trip essentials. Why the 2026 Jeep Cherokee Is a Great Road Trip SUV The newest Jeep Cherokee brings hybrid efficiency to an SUV designed with adventure in mind. Under the hood is a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid powertrain that combines gasoline power with electric motors. Jeep estimates up to 37 mpg combined and more than 500 miles of total driving range on a single tank, which can help reduce the number of fuel stops on longer road trips. The Cherokee is also designed to make the transition from highway driving to outdoor exploration easier. The Jeep Active Drive I 4x4 system is available across the 2026 Cherokee lineup, giving drivers added capability when road conditions or the terrain becomes more challenging. For Cincinnati-area drivers, that combination can be especially appealing. You get the efficiency and comfort you want for the highway portion of the trip while still having the capability associated with the Jeep brand when you're heading toward your destination. Stop at Natural Bridge State Resort Park One of the most popular stops near Red River Gorge is Natural Bridge State Resort Park. The park is home to a massive sandstone natural arch and offers hiking opportunities ranging from relatively easy walks to more challenging trails. Natural Bridge is an especially good choice if you're visiting Red River Gorge for the first time. You can spend several hours exploring the trails, taking photographs, and enjoying the views without needing to plan an overly complicated itinerary. If you're bringing the family, give yourself plenty of time. A road trip doesn't have to be about rushing from one attraction to the next. The best Cincinnati weekend getaways leave room to explore at your own pace. Explore the Trails of Red River Gorge For outdoor enthusiasts, Red River Gorge is much more than a single attraction. The area is known for its sandstone cliffs, rock formations, natural bridges, forests, and extensive hiking opportunities. It is also internationally recognized as a rock-climbing destination. Some visitors come specifically to hike, while others simply want to enjoy the scenery and spend a day away from the city. If you're planning to hike, research your trail before leaving Cincinnati and check current conditions. Bring plenty of water, wear appropriate footwear, and remember that cell service can vary depending on where you are in the gorge. Hiking will build up an appetite, be sure to visit Miguel’s Pizza for a mouthwatering slice of pizza! Located in Slade, Kentucky and operating as a legendary hub for rock climbers, campers, and hikers for over 35 years, it serves custom thin-crust pies with fresh dough and a vast array of unique toppings Take the Scenic Route Part of the appeal of a Cincinnati -to-Red River Gorge Road trip is simply being on the road. Once you leave the city, the landscape gradually changes from urban and suburban roads to the rolling hills and wooded scenery of Kentucky. The journey is a reminder of how close Cincinnati is to some of the Midwest's best outdoor destinations. The 2026 Jeep Cherokee is well suited to this kind of trip because it combines a comfortable SUV interior with the efficiency of its turbo hybrid powertrain. Jeep says the Cherokee's hybrid system does not require plugging in; regenerative braking helps generate electricity for the system while you drive.  That means there's no need to plan your trip around charging stations. Fill up, load your gear, and head toward the gorge. Pack Your Jeep and Hit the Road One of the best things about living in Cincinnati is having access to so many destinations within a few hours of home. Red River Gorge is a perfect example: it's close enough for a weekend escape but different enough from everyday Cincinnati life to feel like a real adventure. How La Salle High School Students Explored the Future of Automotive Careers with the Mark Williams Auto Group

Career exploration is one of the most valuable experiences a student can have before graduating high school. It provides a chance to look beyond textbooks and classrooms and see real opportunities waiting in the world ahead. When the Mark Williams Auto Group visited La Salle High School for Career Day, the morning became an eye-opening journey into an industry that continues to grow in innovation and possibility. Josh Williams, General Manager of Queen City Ford, and Charlie Watson, Marketing Director for Mark Williams Auto Group, led discussions that introduced students to the many roles and career paths within the automotive field. What followed was a series of conversations that blended business, technology, problem solving, and creativity. Students often come into Career Day expecting a simple overview of different jobs, yet this event offered something far more interactive. Josh and Charlie organized four separate round table sessions. The smaller group format encouraged genuine conversation and allowed students to engage with the content rather than simply observe it. Many were surprised to learn how complex dealership operations truly are. Josh began by breaking down the two primary sides of a dealership. Fixed operations cover service and parts, while variable operations focus on sales and inventory. Together, these departments form the backbone of a dealership’s daily workflow. The students gained a new appreciation for the level of coordination involved in guiding a customer from their first inquiry to their final purchase or service appointment. Josh explained how technicians, service advisors, sales consultants, detail teams, inventory specialists, and managers work as one system. A customer might only interact with a few employees during a visit, but dozens of individuals may contribute behind the scenes to ensure that the customer leaves satisfied and confident. This realization helped students understand that every role in a dealership matters and that teamwork is essential to success. Charlie brought the conversation into the world of modern marketing. Students were fascinated by the idea that marketing within the automotive field has transformed significantly over the past decade. Gone are the days when dealerships relied solely on newspaper listings or television commercials. Today the focus is on digital presence, community connection, and storytelling. Charlie described how video content, online advertising, influencer collaboration, and social media engagement have become powerful tools for reaching buyers. He shared examples of short form vehicle videos, customer testimonial features, event promotions, and digital campaigns that help connect the dealership with the surrounding community. The students quickly realized how creative the marketing side of automotive can be. It requires strong communication skills, an understanding of trends, and the ability to capture attention in a digital world filled with endless content. Charlie emphasized that marketing is not simply about showcasing vehicles. It is about building trust, demonstrating value, and showing the personality behind the dealership. Students who enjoy video editing, photography, writing, social media, or graphic design discovered that these interests could translate into real opportunities within the automotive world. Throughout the morning, the discussion naturally shifted into the topic of education and career decisions. Many students feel pressure to choose a single path after high school, often without fully understanding their options. Josh encouraged students to consider the benefits of skilled trades. He explained that technicians are in high demand and that the profession offers strong earning potential, job security, and opportunities for growth. Students were surprised to learn how advanced modern automotive technology has become, particularly with the rise of hybrid and electric vehicles. Technicians now work with computer systems, diagnostic tools, and complex electrical components, making the role both technical and intellectually challenging. Charlie provided insight into careers that require a college degree, such as marketing, management, finance, and leadership roles within a dealership. He reminded students that there is no single definition of success. Some people thrive in hands on environments, while others prefer strategic or creative work. Every student has unique strengths and interests, and understanding those qualities is the first step in choosing a fulfilling path. This honest and balanced conversation helped students feel supported rather than pressured, which is a rare gift in an era where young people often face overwhelming expectations about their future. One of the highlights of the session was the question-and-answer period in each group. Students asked thoughtful questions about advancement, work environments, training programs, and salary growth. They wanted to know what daily life looks like for technicians, managers, and marketing professionals. Both Josh and Charlie emphasized that the automotive industry values dedication, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. Many successful employees begin their careers with little experience and grow through mentorship and consistent effort. Students appreciated the reassurance that they do not need to have everything figured out immediately to begin building a meaningful career. By the end of the event, the students held a much deeper understanding of how dealerships operate and how many opportunities exist within the field. Perhaps even more importantly, they walked away with a sense of confidence that their futures can be shaped in many ways. The automotive industry continues to evolve with advancements in service technology, online retail systems, customer engagement tools, and electric vehicle development. This evolution creates new roles, new challenges, and new opportunities for young people who are adaptable, creative, and eager to learn. Mark Williams Auto Group believes strongly in building relationships within the community. Taking part in La Salle High School’s Career Day is only one part of their broader mission to support students, families, and local organizations across the region. By giving students, the chance to speak directly with industry professionals, the group hopes to inspire the next generation of leaders, innovators, technicians, and creators. These career conversations help students see the possibilities that lie ahead, not just in automotive but in any field where they can use their strengths to contribute in meaningful ways. As the event came to an end, Josh and Charlie left students with one final message. Every career begins with curiosity. Every goal begins with a willingness to explore. The path to success looks different for each person, and there is tremendous value in discovering what motivates you and what kind of work gives you a sense of purpose. Whether a student dreams of developing new marketing strategies, repairing advanced vehicle systems, solving customer concerns, or leading a team, the automotive industry has a place for them. Career Day at La Salle High School offered a glimpse into that future, and the excitement it sparked among the students was the true success of the visit.

Revving Up the Halloween Spirit: Mark Williams Auto Group’s Trunk or Treat!

Every fall, the Mark Williams Auto Group celebrates more than just the changing leaves and crisp air. We celebrate community. Our annual Trunk or Treat events at Mt. Orab and Beechmont have become beloved local traditions that bring families, organizations, and businesses together for a night filled with laughter, creativity, and kindness. At Mark Williams Auto Group, we believe in more than selling cars. We believe in driving community forward. Our dealerships serve as gathering places where people can connect, enjoy themselves, and strengthen the bonds that make southern Ohio such a special place to live. This year’s Trunk or Treat events once again proved how meaningful it is when local partners work together toward a shared purpose. A Family-Friendly Celebration From the moment the first trunk opened to the last piece of candy handed out, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy. Families arrived in creative costumes, ready to explore, take photos, and enjoy an evening designed for all ages. Every decorated vehicle and participating vendor added something special to the experience, turning our dealership lots into vibrant centers of Halloween fun. The Mt. Orab Fire Department and Mt. Orab Police Department joined us once again, giving children the chance to meet the heroes they look up to. Fire trucks and police vehicles were open for exploration, and the men and women who serve our community took time to answer questions and share safety tips. Their participation was an important reminder of how dedicated our local first responders are to protecting the people they serve. At Beechmont, the Union Township Fire Department brought that same community spirit. Families were thrilled to meet the team, explore their equipment, and thank them for all they do throughout the year. These first responders represent the heart of community service, and we were proud to have them join us. Local Businesses That Make a Difference Our Trunk or Treat celebrations would not be possible without the support of outstanding local partners. Ag-Pro of Georgetown joined our Mt. Orab event with an impressive John Deere tractor. Guests were fascinated by the tractor, and children enjoyed climbing aboard while learning how agriculture keeps our region strong. Ag-Pro embodies the hard work and dedication that define southern Ohio, and their presence helped show the connection between local business and community life. At both locations, the Cincinnati Ghostbusters were crowd favorites. Their movie-quality costumes and iconic Ecto-1 vehicle created an unforgettable photo opportunity. Guests of all ages loved their enthusiasm and attention to detail. The Ghostbusters have become well-known throughout the Cincinnati area for attending charitable events, and their participation at Trunk or Treat brought smiles to everyone they met. Charlie and his Haunted Trailer team delivered the perfect blend of spooky fun and family-friendly entertainment. Their creative haunted experience was one of the most popular parts of the evening, proving that Halloween thrills can be both exciting and accessible for all ages. We also want to thank the Brown County Animal Shelter and the Clermont County Animal Shelter for joining us. Their teams shared inspiring stories of animal rescue and adoption, encouraging visitors to consider giving a pet a forever home. Seeing families connected with these organizations was one of the most rewarding parts of the night. Sweet Treats and Local Flavor No community event is complete without good food and great coffee, and our Trunk or Treat celebrations were full of both. Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck served handcrafted drinks that brought warmth and comfort to guests throughout the evening. Their locally brewed coffee has become a favorite among families in our area, and it was wonderful to have them share their passion once again. Kona Ice joined our Beechmont event with its signature shaved ice treats that delighted kids and adults alike. The cheerful colors and variety of flavors made their truck one of the busiest stops of the night. We also want to recognize Raising Cane’s and Quality Comfort and Home Services for their continued partnership. Their involvement and generosity help make our community events possible, and their commitment to customer care reflects the same values that guide our dealerships every day. Supporting Inclusion and Awareness EmPath for Autism played an important role in both our Trunk or Treat events this year. Their mission to support children with autism and their families aligns closely with our belief in creating events that are welcoming and inclusive for everyone. EmPath provided valuable resources and information to guests, helping raise awareness and promoting understanding within our community. Giving Thanks to Sam’s Club A heartfelt thank you goes to Sam’s Club for their generous support. Their donations of candy, supplies, and event materials helped make both the Mt. Orab and Beechmont Trunk or Treats a success. Their willingness to give back to the community is a reflection of true partnership, and we deeply appreciate their continued collaboration. A Night of Joy and Togetherness As the evening came to a close and the last trunk lights faded, one feeling remained: gratitude. Every smile, every laugh, and every handshake reminded us why community involvement matters so much. Our Trunk or Treat celebrations are about more than Halloween. They are about connections. They are about showing what can happen when local organizations, families, and businesses unite for a common purpose. At Mark Williams Auto Group, we are honored to play a part in that. Whether it is hosting community events, supporting local causes, or simply providing a welcoming space for neighbors to gather, we are dedicated to giving back. These celebrations reflect the values that drive us: service, kindness, and teamwork. We thank everyone who attended, volunteered, and partnered with us to make this year’s Trunk or Treat events so memorable. Your support continues to inspire us every day. We look forward to next year, when we can once again bring families together for another celebration of community spirit and togetherness across Mt. Orab, Beechmont, and beyond.
