2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Grand Cherokee is roomy, rugged, capable, and modern, far more than just a good-looking SUV. For 2023, some infotainment and audio systems were made more accessible or standard. Check out this 2023 Grand Cherokee overview.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Available as a two-row or three-row SUV, the Grand Cherokee has six trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve. For 2023, the Trailhawk was moved to the Grand Cherokee 4xe hybrid version, a separate model. The starting Laredo Grand Cherokee has rear privacy and acoustic front door glass, heated side mirrors, LED headlights and taillights, and 17-inch wheels. A power sunroof is available, along with 18-inch wheels and many exterior add-ons.
The Altitude adds some cabin comforts and extra technology, plus 20-inch wheels, a power liftgate, rain-sensing automatic windshield wipers, and gloss black roof rails. The Limited goes further, adding LED fog lights, automatic high beams, and side-mirror memory settings. Both the Limited and all higher trims offer a mix of 18-inch and 20-inch wheel options.
Engine (Power)
The standard engine on the 2023 Grand Cherokee is a 3.6-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 257 pound-feet of torque with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a maximum possible tow rating of 6,200 lbs. Quadra-Trac I four-wheel drive with a single-speed transfer case is available on the Laredo. Overland and higher models in four-wheel drive have access to a 5.7-liter V8 engine with 357 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
With a 0-60-mph time of only 6.7 seconds with the V6 engine, the Grand Cherokee is fun to drive even if you never take it off-roading. Consider the Trailer Tow Prep package to add useful features like a Class IV hitch receiver, heavy-duty engine cooler, rear load-leveling suspension, and more. The Laredo gets Selec-Terrain with five switchable off-roading drive modes, and higher trims offer more advanced versions of this feature.
Interior
Push-button start is included on the Laredo, along with an 8.4-inch touchscreen system with wireless connections for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other notable features include a 60/40-split folding rear seat row, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel with shifter paddles, LED interior lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver seat, two 12-volt outlets, and two USB ports.
The most notable update to the Grand Cherokee for 2023 is a new 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen appearing on the Overland and higher models. In general, expect more conveniences and a wider range of luxurious upholstery options with each trim level. Try out the Altitude for its affordable additions, such as leather seating, remote start, and heating functions for the front row and steering wheel.
Safety Features
A rearview backup camera, lane-departure warning, rear parking sensors with automatic braking, stop/go automatic cruise control, full-speed forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert all come standard. If you'll be hooking up a trailer often, the Altitude or higher's Tow Prep group adds trailer hitch zoom.
Check out the Limited model to get intersection left-turn assist and front parking sensors, plus access to an available 360-degree surround-view camera mode, digital rearview mirror, and rear camera washer. Or, pick the Summit or Summit reserve for all of that plus automatic parallel and perpendicular parking.
